Looking ahead... a.k.a. 4 for Friday

I'm slated to run in the SF First Half-Marathon in a little over 12 weeks. Can you say hilly? I am about to embark on a training plan for this event that is revolutionary. I'll tell you more as time goes on...and time will certainly tell how well it works! Needless to say, I am super excited about the possibilities :)

I will run over this bridge.

At some point in the next 3 months (probably before the SF half) Team AfterNuun Delight will become three sets of 12 runners. We will find out with whom we will enjoy a trip from Mount Hood to Seaside, Oregon, and which order in the running rotation we will occupy while running for our respective teams-within-the-team. We were allowed to submit our top three choices of which legs we'd most like to run...no promises but input considered. I know a number of us are very curious as to who we will be riding with...you never know how personalities are going to mix :) I was thinking of starting a pool...whoever can correctly group together the most athletes on any one of the teams-within-the-team wins a tube of Nuun of his or her choice!

Sixteen days from now I will be running in the 101st Zazzle SF Bay to Breakers. This should be very interesting. I have not been running as much as I had prior to last year's race, but I feel oddly in better shape. My goals going into the race are simply to feel strong and confident. I always run races as if to win them ...even knowing that unless there are a whole lot of fast people tripping over cracked asphalt or untied shoes, waylaid by severe GI issues, taking wrong turns, etc., that the proverbial snowball in Hell and I have about the same chances.

You're really glad I didn't put the naked people photo this time, right?

Next weekend one of my very dear blogging friends will be in town, and I cannot wait!!!! We have big plans to have more fun than humanly possible. What would make it even better than best would be if Dolvett this girl joined us.

Any exciting races coming up? Ever try a radical training plan? How'd it work out?

Who wants in on that pool?

  1. Oh, you have such cool stuff coming up!! Yea! :)

I've only got that little bike race on the horizon. In like 4 weeks and 1 day. Wow, I'm terrified, but it's good to have something big to look forward to/dread. :)

    1. You? terrified? Please say you're kidding! I cannot imagined you terrified of hardly anything...not even getting lost in the woods :)

  2. Are you going to be dressed up like the wooly mammoth?

I'm running a training half on Sunday (Avenue of the Giants) and have a marathon on May 20. :)

  3. Awesome on the SF half marathon! That is one of the 2 half marathons I've ran before, the course is indeed hilly! But running over the bridge is awesome.

Also awesome on Bay to Breakers, I might be there as well - but I'll skip it if I have to walk it. Enjoy it out there!

  6. Apparently no one else is jazzed about the pool idea except us.

    1. The pool idea is killer. We are just on the cusp of a movement and no one is daring enough to seize the moment and be a part of something really big. It's always that way when you're a revolutionary or a visionary.

  7. I have enough trouble just following a training plan - any old training plan! So nothing radical for me. I'm interested in hearing about yours, though.

  8. I was intersted in the pool, but wasn't sure I understood it (no doubt because I am not fit and eat too much chocolate!)

  9. Cool races coming up. I'm curious about your crazy training plan and yep, SF sounds brutally hilly. Can't wait to read the RR!

  10. You have some great races coming up. I ran Bay to Breakers in 1991, I remember the year because my daughter wasn't even one and it was really hard for me to leave her, but the race was so much fun. I also did the SF Marathon in 2010....loved it, but running across the bridge almost made me nauseous. Anyway, that means nothing other than I'm glad I've run those races because now I know exactly what you'll be running :).

All your ET work is going to pay off well in the races. I'm very curious about your radical training plan....does it involve eating massive amts of food and gaining massive amts of weight, like mine? :)

  11. No radical training plans in my past but maybe in my future. How awesome to run over the bridge!

  12. I'll admit: little disappointed you didn't put the naked people this time :) Running over that bridge will be the most awesome of awesomess possible! So excited for you, and so excited about Team Nuun! You sure have your finger in a number of pies...how is it that Ellen Degeneris hasn't contacted you for an interview yet?

  16. I do believe all the concepts you've introduced on your post. They are really convincing and can certainly work. Nonetheless, the posts are too short for starters. Could you please lengthen them a bit from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.
