Thirteen Thursday

Really random thoughts...

  1. I just got back from a bike ride. Lots of smiling people out on the trail...mostly men maintenance workers attending to the sprinkler system. Smiling because...it is a nice day out today? They had a great lunch? More probably because I was wearing a regular v-neck t-shirt and my right boob (yes, covered by an undergarment) was hanging out. Nice n' classy... but would you expect anything different from a 'creepy' #boobblogger?
  2. Why does it always seem like I'm riding into a headwind? On an out-and-back no less. If not a straight-on headwind then a vicious cross-headwind. Always. Is it because I am riding soooo fast that I counter any speed of a tailwind? More probably because I suck at biking and get really easily distracted by the slightest resistances nature might provide.
  3. I just successfully climbed two 5.10c routes in one climbing session!!!! Seriously...cause for celebration. Is it because I am a freaking climbing superstar? More probably because it was in a lesson and my teacher is totally kick-ass and told me how to do it :P
  4. I have discovered I am THAT person at the gym... headphones on, singing out loud. And if that isn't bad enough... #heavybreather. I promise I will work on this.
  5. There was a woman on the treadmill in front of me while I was working out yesterday who looked perfect in her off-white yoga pants...like, stunningly beautifully perfect. I have never seen anyone in real life look so perfect...especially in light-colored, unforgiving yoga pants. In print with photoshop and air-brushing, sure...but this was real life. I wanted to tell her. And not in a creepy way. Would it have been creepy to tell her? I feel like we women don't compliment each other enough.
  6. My migraine was gone by yesterday afternoon. Many thanks to those of you who expressed concern and empathy :) Migraines just blow.
  7. Either my cardio workouts are really strengthening my legs and butt or I am just getting fat. My butt and thighs totally ate my shorts by the end of my workout last night. No cheeks hanging out, fortunately...but I might as well have been wearing some of those little elite runner speed briefs.
  8. I miss my kid. He's on a 5-day field trip to our nation's capital.
  9. I should do more some housework.
  10. I should do some yardwork.
  11. Reading... I should do some of that, too. I got 2 books recently... World Without End by Ken Follett and Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson. Has anyone got anything to say about these books? Speak up!
  12. I haven't followed the news...world, national, or local...in ages. Is there anything interesting going on out there in the world that I should know about?
  13. Today after I pick my kids up from school, we are going to buy ladybugs! The kids are super excited and have been fighting over who gets to hold the bucket on the car ride home. Ladybugs help control aphid infestations, and my beautiful Gertrude Jekyll rose is having problems with this. Yay, ladybugs!

Wow. Feels so good to have gotten all that randomness on the outside of me!

Anything random happening in your day that you care to share?

  1. boobblogger? what's that? All these new things I'm learning from your posts.

Nothing new in my world, or random. Maybe I need to live a more adventurous life. Oh wait, I get to give baby girl peas for the second time ever today. It's one of my fav. green veggies, so I'm hoping she is a fan as well.

    1. Peas were a favorite over here! Especially with the youngest two. And the peas w/ brown rice. Always looked sketchy to me coming out of that jar...

  2. I'm just a big bucket full of random these days. I would have totally told that lady she looked great. We don't tell each other enough and it feels good to hear. A lady stopped in me in Costco just to ask me if I was a serious runner and to tell me how amazing I looked. This felt soooo great to hear. HOw nice of her!! HOpe those headaches stay at bay. :( No fun.

  3. Totally tell Ms. yoga pants. I love girl compliments. Coming from a guy might mean ulterior motives; from a girl it's just a nice thing to say.

  4. in the world....Obamma yesterday you did hear about that right...? you live in SF!!!! you had to...

#5 you are so right. we dont compliment each other enough. When I met Terzah for a coffee in Pasadena. One really pretty young gal who was sitting close to us go up to leave and she made a stop by our table touched me on the shoulder and said " I just want to tell you that you are lovely"....that was so sweet and kind.

Let's Pretend This Never Happened. that is on my list. you will have to tell me what you think. I just finished the night circus and I was so frustrated with it.

  6. You are BRILLIANT. Really and truly BRILLIANT. I've been following your blog, and it makes me SO SAD that instead of returning to EB and our Oakland home, we're moving down the Peninsula and attending ISTP. Seems to me that other than the fact that I'm a workaholic as opposed to a work-out-aholic, you and I have a ridiculous amount in common. . . .I sooooooooo miss my ridiculously high-maintenance eldest, although I'm never away from him TOO long! Bravo. Really and truly, BRAVO! As ever--cordially, -p.

  8. Do you know French have a new President ?
Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson...I want to read this one too..
I'm missing my kid too, and tonight she is late for calling me... ARGGGG !!
No yard work for me and no house cleaning...we are moving - so, we (hum...wait).. I have tons and tons of Boxes to do ;)
I'm also the one singing out loud on my stationary bike, because I'm not allowed to do more than that for now ! and I HATE riding on that bike, I was dreaming on being E.T. to fly on the bike the other day ;) ha ha ha ..

  9. I commented on this earlier but my computer wigged out and I lost it.

I love your pink roses. My backyard is dead. Our sprinklers broke in this drier than dry state I live in and I couldn't keep up with it hand watering so it's dead. How's that for a great random comment? I hate being broke all the time!

  11. Great updates, haha

Main national news that I heard recently is that Barack said that same sex marriage should be allowed. Pretty monumental announcement I'd say. I'm glad he said this.

And about the gym - seems like all I hear are people ripping others in the gym for their poor etiquette/hygiene/etc. How about people that work out correctly and are their for the right reasons? I guess it's easy to rip people than it is to compliment people. You should have complimented that girl you saw! lol

Oh, and some good news on my end - the sports doc I saw yesterday said that I should be able to ditch my ankle brace and run armor free! He even gave me the go ahead to do bay to breakers (a mix of run and walking). I was pretty shocked at what I said. So if you want to try to coordinate meeting up on race day that sounds good. I'm in corral A, maybe we could meet up beforehand outside of the corrals? There is a Starbucks by the entrances to the corrals that I always pass by every year, want to try to meet here? The race starts at 7, so maybe meet there at 615? Let me know if you had something else in mind, or if you are in corral A as well.

  13. I haven't heard any news worth hearing, but the Daily Show has been funny. I definitely think you are biking so fast you are making wind...not breaking wind!

  14. this entire post made me giggle, from one end to the other.
#heavybreather literally had me laughing out loud (good thing my only audience is my cat)
#5 - i think we should compliment early and often
#12 - most of the news this week has been depressing. be glad you've missed a bunch.

  15. My new puppy is nocturnal. That's not really a random thought. It's more the entire focus of my existence.

This probably makes me sound like a bit of a perv, but I'd pay money to see a video of you riding down the street with your boob hanging out. That would make my freakin' day.

  16. I <3 random!

Maybe you could have just asked perfect white pants lady if she's got some DNA to contribute to us poor souls who will never look like that.

Happy Mothers' Day to one of my fave mom bloggers :-)

  17. World Without End is worth the read. I love Ken Follett! As for your boob, nothing says lovin' like flashing the local utility men in the neighbourhood!
