I shall call him 'Squishy,' and he shall be mine...

...and he will be my Squishy.
– Dory, Finding Nemo (2003)

Yes, that is a jellyfish...a fragment of a jellyfish, anyway.

Want to entertain a 3-year old for hours?
Give the child a jellyfish and a 5-gallon bucket of sand!

The only thing I might do differently would be to put sunscreen on her sweet, little arms :(
#momfail

Sometimes the jellyfish needs a spanking.

Mixing things up with teeny, tiny sandcrabs that cannot be seen in the photographs
keeps the interest going all day long :)

She had so much fun.

Have you ever been stung by a jellyfish?
– Yes, and it stung like crazy!

  1. So I take it her jellyfish had no tentacles? ("the tops...wil NOT sting you!" ~Marlin). Yeah, all my jellyfish education is from Finding Nemo :) I've never been stung before, but I've only been near them once before as a kid, and my mom managed to scare the crap out of me about them, so I kept my distance...

    She is ridiculously cute!

  2. I have to think if I have even seen a jelly fish....I am guessing not if I don't remember it.
Not having kids means my jellyfish info comes from the Friends episode when Monica was stung. Guess I should get more learning done...

  3. We caught a ton of jelly fish the other day that the beach! The non-stingy ones though! I have been stung by one....ok a lot! I was on a dock in the middle of the water and the only way to shore was to swim through the gross jellies! Yeah no fun but I made it!!

  4. I have somehow miraculously escaped the jellyfish sting for 32 years. Every time we go to FL we see bajillions of them... on the beach, swimming all around us... they were especially bad when we were down there with the whole family three years ago. I think I was the only one of us who didn't get stung. Rumor is, it hurts.

  5. I showed this this to the boys because they are obsessed with jellyfish and LOVE to collect them in big buckets and then play with them til their death...Moon jellies make for great breast implants in a bathing suit btw ;) And they're kinda warm!

ps...she is just way too cute!

  7. Oh, yes, several times. Nothing serious, though. I think we used to put vinegar on the stings.

  10. Ok, I need me a Squishy. I have a bored 8 year old! And yeah, I've been #momfailing all over the place this summer. My daughter has burned at least 3 times....like mother guilt is bad enough without inflicted the fear that you may have given your kid cancer.

  11. Thats fun! I have been stung by not very strong ones, which just feel like insulation/fiberglass. I swam through a big school (is that what it's called?) of them and it was creepy.
