Hope Endures Virtual 5K

Having something other than my own misery to focus on carried me forward in Sunday's race. The last 5K (or 3.24 miles in the case of the RockNRoll Las Vegas event) I had dedicated to the memory of Courtney's daughter, Ashlyn. Courtney offered the event as a celebration of change and never-ending love and life.

My final 5K (ish) of the race contained my fastest splits, my most gutsy effort. It was a radical change from the abysmal experience that occurred in the three miles immediately preceding. I love to run, and rarely do I feel more alive than when I am laying it out there on the road. Finding the strength to keep going. Getting comfortable in the discomfort. Persevering...even when things do not turn out as planned.

Thank you so much, Courtney, for offering us the opportunity to remember and to feel the greatness of love and life with your Hope Endures Virtual 5K. Thinking of you and Ashlyn :)

  1. I agree when you are running for a cause there is just that little more you can give. Great job and so nice of you to do this :)

  4. Honestly reading that made everything around me stop for a moment. It encompasses running so much and it means the world that you gave a little of that to remember my daughter and lift me. Thank you tons.
