Mom, you look weird...

that's how my swingin' Saturday night began...

nice... thanks for that confidence boost, fruits of my loins (or is that what you get to say only if you're the dad?)

all because I decided to braid my hair for my stupid bike ride. When I do my normal "wad-the-hair-up-on-top-of-my-head" deal, the helmet is quite uncomfy. Two braids don't get in the way of anything. Except looking good, apparently.

And they had the nerve to say this after I made them a cheesecake...

Butter burned in the bottom of the oven because I forgot to put the dang thing on a cookie sheet... the pan has a leak, clearly.

Hopefully, I won't be eating almost the entire delicious cheesecake by myself, like I did that last one.

I finally went for my little bike-ride... I did 12 laps of 0.6 miles = 7.2 miles in 30 minutes. I did see that baby skunk... totally not in her end of the development... I hope she doesn't come to our house one of these days. And I missed all of the blue bumps... but I did discover that heavily-textured manhole covers are like crotch-land mines... never mind the grenades.

After the ride, it was late. I did the P90X X-Stretch. I think it is the most mellow of the routines in that series. And it's short :)

Eventually I ate dinner. I think that finally happened at about 10:30.

Then I cut my fingernails...
I like to keep them short.

What wildness were you up to this past weekend?
We just had a mellow Father's Day... no special nothing... not even a card :P I even forgot to make the special guy any dinner... at all!

When was the last time you cut your fingernails?
Clearly, a while ago.

  1. That looks so good, also looks professtionally done, nice job, I dont bake as "pretty" as that

  2. I had to cook my own Father's Day dinner - shrimp stir fry with brown rice and of course, spinach salad.

Add that to just under 90 miles of bike/run training for the weekend and hours of Monopoly with the family, and you gotta admit I kind of kick ass...right?

  3. I chew my fingernails off, honestly. That cheesecake looks divine!

  4. I actually like the braids and the cheesecake looked ah-mazing! I haven't cut my nails in a while, I like to just keep filing them down until they break (which they WILL do...right after I file all of them down)

  5. i think you look great...and if i were you...i'd take my cheesecake back.

  6. You don't look *THAT* weird. But, hey, what do kids know. Mine still think I've never lied to them (Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc). Jokes on them!!

I suppose I aught to break out my bike and ride it for a bit. My butt will be killing me, but you are inspiring me to dig the thing out of the garage. I would need to get some cages for the peddles to get a proper workout though. Hmmm, perhaps a VLOG is due after all.

  7. If you have the ability to braid your hair yourself and get the part straight then you ought to. I don't have that ability. Our wild weekend was camping with lots of rain and lows in the 30's and highs not too much higher. I have ridiculously strong fingernails so I HAVE to cut them frequently or I accidentally scratch my husband and kids.

  8. You are so funny! I love that you took your picture of the braids and the nails. Too bad you can't share that cheesecake with us!

  9. you are a baker!
    I wish I could bake.
last time I tried to make banana bread..I bet a 6 yrs old can bake that, it came out of the over like a brick instead of something that can be eaten!

  10. I'm with Irish, Nat, Krumpled, et al. Having been an un-restrained child myself when it came to adults; when a child says, "you look weird" that is code for "you look different than you normally do and since I noticed it its pretty cool."

PS If I win the movie, then can you just ship up that cheese cake instead of the movie?

  11. yum. oh yum. will you please bring me a piece in august when we do HTC?! totally excited! Can't wait to meet you, looking forward to getting to know you!

  12. Hahahaha I always have to pick my self-esteem up from the floor after my kids get ahold of me. You look great, pretty much what I look like before a bike ride! I'm following you, I'd love if you could visit me over at randomasamother.blogspot.com. Thank you!

  13. I think your hair looks super cute. And the cheesecake... Amazing! I musta gained five pounds just looking at it. Thanks for the virtual fattening. Jerk! ;-)

  14. This was a post under your valentines day cake - I couldn't resist visiting with that awesome facial expression and hair ;) and then cheesecake! BEST POST EVER....why was I not a follower in June ;)

we *heart* comments!
