Hood To Coast Movie Giveaway Madness!

Hood to Coast

Hood to Coast

Many of my readers know about this but an equal number have no idea about the wild insanity that is the Hood to Coast Relay.

I have to admit that when I entered the Nuun contest to become a member of their team, I had no idea myself! I just knew that I missed being a part of a team and that I had a very strong sentimental attachment to the places Mount Hood, Portland and Seaside due to many childhood trips there with my now-deceased dad. After winning a spot on Nuun's all-female, all-blogger team to run in "the mother of all relays," I finally watched one of the trailers for the Hood to Coast Movie.

Whoa.

Just freakin AMAZING!

Suddenly I got it. I understood why it has earned its nickname of "the mother of all relays" and couldn't wait to see the whole film and run the race.

Whether you have ever run, currently run, have always wanted to run, or have never had any interest in running... this movie and this event are incredible. If you fall into one of those last two categories, you may find yourself propelled unwittingly up off the couch and out in the streets, running! I got this sense from just the trailer... check it out here...

I am getting so super excited.

Reading other blogs and articles about the race in general and my part in particular are proving invaluable in terms of providing a glimpse of what I am in for, motivating me to keep my chin up in the face of adversity and make this sucker happen for myself, as well as giving both humor and good sense to the process of preparation AND participation.

I loved this link to a description of what it is to be Van 2... which I am. Jason Effman's writing is right up my alley. I was nodding and laughing the entire read... and even more excited to get up to Oregon :) And the series in the blog 110 Pounds and Counting written by Lisa Eirene, who also ran the twelfth leg, will be so incredibly helpful... I am so grateful to her for chronicling her experience.

I just crossed the milestone of 400 GFC followers! And as promised, now that I am at 404 I am hosting a giveaway of this amazing film... Hood to Coast Movie! It can be yours for freeeeeeeeeeeee!

Here's how to play:

  1. you MUST be a GFC follower of Taking It On, and I need to be able to see your little picture thingy over there in the grid (doesn't have to be you but you have to follow publicly)... that is the only mandatory thing for entering the giveaway... the following are bonus ways...

Remember....

You've gotta play to win!

The winner will be chosen at random at some point on August 16th... after my husband gets back from his 10-day European jaunt... for real... yes, leaving me home to wrangle 4 kids by myself! And yes, he went with my blessing :)

Many thanks and much luck to all who choose to play!

Disclaimer:  This movie will not be given to me by anyone. I have pre-ordered this movie and paid for it with my own money. I think my biggest concern is that the food in the van won't be good. haha.

  24. It is an amazing experience you will love! The new friendships you make are the best part of the whole thing.

  25. So, right NOW I figure I have a 1 in 43 chance of winning this thing. Should I increase my chances?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Let's go for 2 in 44 chance of winning and say that even though the HTC is the grand-daddy of relays you still only have to run one out of every 12 segments. So, just minimize the amount of time on one's feet and you should be HTC'ing it in style!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I like numbers so let's make this 3 in 45 (or 1 in 15) chances...There's a nice FB share waiting for you.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Don't use Twitter, but this is another comment for 4 out of 46, right? Boycotting my blog, so a sidebar don't make much sense, but it's the thought that counts, right?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I am a fb fan of TIO.
(now that I've typed that out it makes me think of CIO. I'm not sure how to interpret that....)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Something encouraging:
You will rock this. For so many reasons.
With your personal connection with your legs-or at least your last leg-your heart will pull you along. For your first leg, excitement will get you through it, and that middle leg, well, just the sheer goofy happy-go-lucky insanity of it all should do it for you.
And if all else fails, you will be encouraged by the beautiful places you get to run. (While you think of me doing a trail relay that weekend, through the back hills of my town, with no shade, and laugh maniacally that you get some shade and mild temps while I bake to death and think of dragging you out here to do it with me sometime!)
    Wait-was that encouraging or discouraging?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I like you before the give away, doesnt that make me extra special?

I want to see this movie, dont want to buy. If I win it, honestly, I will watch it, then pass it long. you know, pay it forward, I am big into that

    ReplyDelete
  32. Well, my usual motivation is "remember you paid to do this" but I think this was free, if it wasnt, then "Remember you paid to do this" but if you didnt pay, then, hmmmmm, ohh, ohhhh, ohhhh, I got it.

"The more you run, the less drama you will have to deal with in the van"

    Thats gold, isnt it?!?!?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Run it and love every minute of it! those of us on the east coast would loooooove to run this!!!!!!!!! let us know every detail!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Something encouraging - I think you are an amazing woman, mother, and runner. I can not WAIT to meet you at HTC in less than 2 weeks!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. I shared this on Facebook - {will run for margaritas}

    ReplyDelete
